LoveShackFancy makes its debut on New York Fashion Week

This @loveshackfancy collection at New York Fashion Week might just perfectly encapsulate my dream aesthetic. The perfect combination of coquette romantic fashion with a city edge to it, perfect for a Gossip Girl episode or for styling the leading lady of your favorite Rom-com. The setting of the show at the Plaza Hotel in New York is even more fitting for this chick-flick fantasy and served as a great pairing for the rose toned collection composed of mini skirts, frilly dresses and lots and lots of bows. These girly pieces were paired with the brands version of “casual-edgy” in the form of black ankle boots, blazers and metallics, which ended up turning the LoveShackFancy girl in a mix of coquette emblem to dress code breaker fashionista attending a private school. The narrative act of the show was evolution, as the brand stated to Vogue Runway: “our girl is growing up”. And that might just be the best way to describe the collection, as the transition of a teenage girl into womanhood, with the juvenile excitement and impracticality of somebody that does not pay bills but daydreams about being an adult. Certainly if the goal was actual maturity then the goal is not quite accomplished. But I yet outside of the styling, the individual pieces are versatile enough to be decontextualised out of this teenage delirium and be brought into the wardrobe to be paired more sensibly.
